Aaron Margeson – Information

About This Blog

This blog is to help the cloud community by sharing knowledge and solutions.  I also want to take some time to make some posts related to more personal development topics for people in IT careers that I don’t think get discussed enough that may be helpful, such as career goals, a bit of personal finance, and fitness – anything that often falls through the cracks in a busy career in IT.  For fun, I’m also going to try to cover a few things of personal interest, such as home tech devices.

About Me

My name is Aaron Margeson.  I’m a Principal Consultant with SyCom Technologies, a leading partner in the Mid-Atlantic area in the US.  I’ve worked with varying enterprise technologies since 2002.  Currently, while I work with a broad range of cloud technologies, I work heavily with VMware vSphere, EMC storage related products including VNX/VNXe, VPLEX, RecoverPoint, Data Domain, various related products such as Veeam Backup and Recovery, as well as Cisco UCS server infrastructure.  I also work with several hyperconverged solutions, including VSAN and Nutanix.  I hold numerous certifications, including VMware VCP-DCV (3/4/5), VCAP-DCD (4/5), EMCIE (VNX & RecoverPoint), Cisco DCUCSS, Nutanix NPP, Nimble Storage NTSP, Microsoft MCITP (Enterprise Administrator, Enterprise Messaging Administrator), and MCSE 2000/2003 (Security and Messaging specializations).

My IT career started working heavily with Active Directory and Exchange after four years of teaching history in public schools, while working with computers to pay for college tuition and as a hobby.  My first full time IT job was Premier Support for Microsoft Exchange around the release time of Exchange 2003, before moving on to consulting.  I’ve consulted for businesses ranging from global enterprises to small businesses, and have also done government contracting at the federal, state, and local levels.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, music, bike riding, and tinkering with any tech related objects I can get my hands on.
